The 2005 upgrade list
| Sat Nov 26, 2005 |
Some significant upgrades have occurred to Sean's drum and studio set up this year.
On the drum side of things, Sean got an electronic drum pad. The pad was purchased to add percussion instruments that would be to difficult or impossible to add to his set. For example, the pad comes with two gong sound, bongos, congas, timbales etc. The pad also allows sampling, allowing Sean to finally add his udu to his sound. Since the pad only comes with a limited amount of free sample space, a flash card to expand this has also been purchased. A Crate powered monitor was purchased for playback. Check back soon as Sean will add one of his udu samples to his kit page.
On the studio side of things, several new mics have been purchased:
- AKG D112 for the bass drum
- A pair of AKG C430 for over heads
- 4 Sennheiser e604 mics for his toms
Additionally, Sean has also purchased:
- A TRS patch bay
- An XLR patch Bay
- TSR Patch Cables
- XLR cables
And earlier in the year:
- A tube pre amp
- Foam isolators for studio monitors
The XLR combiners for Sean's tom mics have also finally been mounted on his drum set.

New Band, New Music, Same Stupid Ear
| Mon Feb 28, 2005 |
Sean had skin graph surgery a few weeks ago to try to fix his stupid ear we won't know until May 4 if it worked or not.
In other news Sean's new band is awesome and you should all listen now. Go to the Music Page and listen to a rough cut (and I do mean rough) of one of their songs.
The group, as start last year has been doing records, but progress has been somewhat slowed due to Sean's ear.
