After Bill joined as
Mad Hatter's new bass player, the group renamed themselves
to Epicenter. When it was time for Epicenter's first show, Martin
Montoya joined the group as a second guitarist. However, Martin left
the band after the Living Room show. Martin was quickly replaced by
Eric Syverson. Eric played Bill Stock with Epicenter and was
scheduled to record the demo with them, but when the recording for
the demo began, Eric left Epicenter for another group. For the demo,
Epicenter recorded Sean's drum solo, Jim's Keyboard solo, Dead Sea,
End of Me, My World, Candle of Wax, and a live cover of Peruvian
Skies.
The next show was Bill's last show
with Epicenter since it was the last show he could squeeze in before
he had to leave for college. Replacing Bill on the bass guitar was
Bob Miller, Jim's little brother. After a few shows, Eric rejoined
the group and played the Wrenthem show with them. After this show,
tensions in the group began to mount between Eric and Chris, and Jim
and Bob. The inevitable breakup of Epicenter occurred after the
February Break show. Sean, Bob and Jim played with Mr. Gary that
summer at the Shell in Milford. The following summer (summer
of 2001), Epicenter had a short reunion in which they rewrote the
intro to their song "My World".
